Ceramic Sculptor

Space, time, material, and attention form the ground of my practice. Working in a state of quiet meditation, he dwells in the "nothing," waiting for "something" to appear. This slow unfolding connects Matt to the same generative forces that shape the Universe, where luminous forms are cradled in dark matter. Matt's studio becomes a cosmos of its own, worlds within worlds.
Matt shape's each form to hold a delicate balance: surface tension and framed space, the dance of positive and negative, line and void. Light becomes both medium and metaphor. Lustre glazes and gilded surfaces scatter it like stardust; terra-sigillata draws it inward, soft and contemplative.
Through these earthbound materials and the spaces they define, he explore the oldest question: why there is something rather than nothing.
