Studio Josha is the practice of Dutch designer Josha Roymans, working entirely by hand from his atelier in Zutphen. Trained at the Rietveld Academy’s DesignLAB, Josha creates bold, functional sculptures that blur the line between art and design.
His process, called Intuitive Creativity, begins with a simple, spontaneous sketch. He then carves each idea directly into three dimensions, working by hand without technical drawings, computer modeling, or compromise. Form and color emerge intuitively as the piece takes shape.
The result is an eclectic, maximalist collection of lighting, furniture, and sculptural objects designed for emotional engagement rather than pure utility. Each piece is one of one, finished with a warm accent of hand-applied 24k gold leaf, making every creation unique and alive with shifting light.
