Rugistan

Rug Brand & Curator

Chicago & Evanston, Illinois, USA

Rugistan is a family-owned rug specialist founded by Shams Frough, connecting traditional weaving communities with contemporary interiors. Originally established as Kapisa Rugs, the business became Rugistan in 2024 and operates showrooms in Chicago and Evanston.

Its collection spans hand-knotted Afghan and Persian rugs, Turkish carpets, kilims, and vintage pieces. Through personal sourcing trips and a dedicated buying team in Afghanistan, Rugistan selects rugs for their craftsmanship, materials, and individual character.

Rooted in the relationships between weavers, collectors, and homes, Rugistan brings cultural heritage into everyday spaces through pieces rich in pattern, texture, and history.
