Playful Black Table Lamp - IC-1 by Studio Josha

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The IC-1 is a black table lamp from the IC-Series by Dutch designer Josha Roymans of Studio Josha, the smallest work in the series and one of its most self-assured. It is a sculptural table lamp with a playful, Memphis-adjacent outline, sitting on a surface like a miniature monument. Every IC-Series table lamp is carved by hand from foam and built up with acrylic resin and fibre, taken directly from a single sketch through Josha's Intuitive Creative Design Method. Nothing rational comes between the drawing and the object: no technical drawings, no prototypes, and a colour chosen intuitively as the form emerges. The naive, wonky lines of the original survive intact. The interior of the table lamp is finished in hand-gilded 24k gold leaf, a living surface rather than a decoration. It answers the light of the room through the day and glows warm when lit, so the piece stays awake even when switched off. At home on a desk, console or sideboard, this eclectic table lamp holds its own in colourful, maximalist interiors. One of one, this exact piece will never be made again. Studio Josha is the practice of Dutch designer and sculptor Josha Roymans, who makes every piece himself in a converted stable on the edge of Zutphen. Each work begins as one unguarded sketch and ends somewhere between sculpture and design.
